Project Introduction

The Vision Behind the Innovation

The idea for this project began when Abdullah Bayounis, former Co-Founder of SABIC, saw the practical benefits of Rain RFID technology during an EON demonstration. He identified an opportunity to lower the cost of Rain RFID tag production by establishing a manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia.

Beyond cost savings, his aim was to improve petrochemical operations through RFID solutions that could provide greater accuracy and visibility across production materials, building supplies, and broader supply chain activities.

The initiative took shape by combining Abdullah's vision with Emaad Felimban's 20 years of warehouse and inventory management experience at Petro Rabigh, Autonera'sexpertise in RFID hardware, and Derwaza's capabilities in SAAS software development. Together, these strengths formed a solid foundation for creating an RFID solution designed to meet the specific needs of petrochemical operations.

Architecture Overview

A comprehensive 5-phase warehouse management architecture integrating Rain RFID technology across receiving, storage, issuing, distribution, and physical inventory operations for petrochemical facilities.

5-Phase System Design

Structured warehouse operations across receiving, storage, issuing, distribution, and physical inventory phases with automated RFID integration at each stage.

RFID Tag Integration

Automated RFID tagging during order verification with real-time tracking through purchase orders, bin locations, and discrepancy management across petrochemical operations.

Inventory Optimization

Advanced features including overdue case reporting, travel distance optimization, task prioritization, and automated alerts for expired items and stock-outs.

Phase Deep Dive

Explore each phase of the RFID solution in detail with comprehensive process breakdowns and implementation benefits.

Receiving Phase

Foundation of warehouse operations

1

Order Verification

Manually check orders within the system to verify existence and scheduled timing. Upon verification, RFID tags are printed and placed on purchase order documents for automated tracking.

2

Initial Receiving Process

Conduct minor inspection to ensure correct quantity of units and external condition. Each item (box) gets tagged with RFID, with failed items moved to discrepancy zone.

3

Inspection Process

Comprehensive inspection to ensure orders meet requested specifications. Thorough quality checks on contents, quality, and condition alignment with predetermined specifications.

4

Final Receiving Process

Orders successfully meeting all specifications are moved to dedicated zones awaiting storage. This marks the completion of the receiving phase with full RFID integration.

5

Discrepancy Process

Handle OSDR discrepancies including overage, shortage, damaged, and rejected items. RFID provides tracking for each case and controls overdues to prevent loss and ensure refunds.

Key Features

Advanced capabilities designed specifically for petrochemical operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Automated Order Verification

Automated RFID tagging during order verification with purchase order validation, ensuring accurate tracking from initial receiving through final distribution.

Real-time Location Tracking

SKU cross-referencing with designated bin location tracking, providing real-time visibility of inventory placement and automated location confirmation.

Optimized Distribution Operations

System-guided picking and loading processes with automated quantity verification and correct vehicle identification for efficient distribution operations.

Physical Inventory Automation

Automated detection of non-existent items, expired products, quantity discrepancies, and misallocated inventory with comprehensive cycle count management.

Discrepancy Management

Comprehensive tracking of overdue cases with real-time alerts for damaged, rejected, shortage, and overage situations to prevent losses and expiration.

Inventory Optimization Analytics

Advanced analytics including travel distance optimization, task prioritization, picking optimization, and predictive alerts for forgotten and stock-out items.
